Ingredients
Brandied Caramel Apples
- 4 cups peeled, diced apples Use a tart apple such as Gravenstein or Granny Smith
- 3 TBSP. granulated sugar
- 1 TBSP. brandy
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 cup Kraft Caramel Bits
Spiced Brandy Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 TBSP. brandy
- 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
Fritter Batter
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
Brownie Layer
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 3/4 cup sweet ground chocolate Ghirardelli or Guittard
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions
Spiced Brandy Glaze
- Mix together until smooth and set aside.
Fritter Batter
- Preheat oven to 350'. Line two 9" x 5" loaf pans with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl: cream together butter and sugar on medium speed for 1 minute. Add vanilla, yogurt and eggs and beat just until blended.
- Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon and allspice and stir just until blended. Set aside.
Brownie Layer
- In a large mixing bowl: cream butter and sugar on medium speed for 1 minute. Add vanilla and eggs and beat just until mixed.
- Add chocolate, flour and baking powder and stir just until blended.
- Divide brownie batter between the two parchment lined loaf pans; spreading evenly to cover the bottom of each pan.
- Put 1/4 of the Fritter Batter into each pan and spread to cover the brownie layer. Next layer 1/4 of the Brandied Caramel Apples, then the remaining Fritter Batter dividing evenly between the two pans; spreading to cover the apple layer. Divide the remaining apples between the two pans; spreading evenly to cover the top of each loaf.
- Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes, or just until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- NOTE: You may substitute fresh lemon juice for the brandy in this recipe.
